I fainted a lot when I was young so I ended up with the store nurse. My family and I saw the nursing area. I don't think they have nurses anymore in dept. stores. My father insisted that the entire family trudge through the store together. My siblings and I had no common interests.

Your worst store accident?
by Apognophos inmine: i was walking around a grocery store with one of those snapple iced tea boxes dangling from one hand, looking for the other thing i ran in to buy.
suddenly the flimsy cardboard side of the box came unglued, and bottles dumped out, smashing open on the floor.
a river of iced tea began to run down the aisle.

I don't know. Your dog is no longer a puppy. Is the behavior with the baby different than when the baby isn't around. Our family dog was extremely social. She would play for hours. Her favorite games always involved a human family member. When she was older, she stopped playing with her favorite toys. Ms. Adventure turned into a recluse.
It could also be she doesn't view the baby as an intimate family member. When Rascal was older and people approached her, rather than being high out f her skull for the attention, she turned her head away. Dogs are complicated and babies don't grow on trees, call a vet. Remember Cesar Chavez, there are no bad dogs. Only bad humans.

Law school and early years of practice. I was so busy. Also, I finally had money to do things in NY such as concerts, plays, etc. I went whole hog.

A world famous doctor once remarked to me that psychiatry cannot cure crappy circumstances. The poor do suffer from mental illness more than middle class people. It isn't genetic. The stressors on the poor are unrelenting.
I am a bit surprised that your dad continues to serve with his education. Sometimes it is hard to see your own lapses of judgment. You can't rescue everyone.
A friend was a member of a special committee for the Episcopal Diocese of Philadelphia. One year the damages they paid in malpractice soared. A study showed that there were no blips in the data until the seventh visit. Six visits hardly any damage awards. They decided to limit pastoral counseling to six visits. More competent help was needed. I also know that in NYC there is a rule that chaplins in cancer wards and adolescent psychiatry had to rotate to kinder settings.

Protect the elderly
by defender of truth inthis weeks km is telling elders to arrange for group studies with people in local nursing homes, with instructions on how to word things when speaking to the directors etc.. they are clearly trying to get to people who may not be entirely able to think for themselves or who may lack critical thinking and yet may have money to leave to them.. what can you do?.
well, if you wanted to, write a short and simple letter or email to your local care home, perhaps directly even speak to the director yourself... warn them about the brainwashing and danger of breaking up of families etc.
the km says they should identify themselves as jw's... .

I failed to see this thread when it first posted. Their history gives reason for concern.

how is it that some fade out of the org and others seem to be pushed?
by sowhatnow ini cant figure out how some persons like my husband and son, simply got too 'busy' and gradually stopped going to meetings, and were totally left alone, and yet some persons.
seem to indicate that people were constantly in persuit of them, for a way to disfellowship them.. the ones who fade never get 'disfellowshiped' unless they write a letter formally requesting thier name be of the membership.. just like the jw org tells people who get baptised to do to thier former church,.
i havent been to a meeting in a few months however it is also under a 'remodel' im sure im not missed.

There are several factors to explain the difference in outcomes. One is that the actual individual matters. My uncle left his wife and children. A nurse who happened to attend the local KH saved his life. She found him, starving to death, on a major highway in upstate NY. One of his sisters was furious with him. She was so hurt. The wife was looking for the next candidate quickly. She was into vengeance. The local brothers were going easy on him b/c they knew the congregation caused many problems. She made every phone call to Bethel to make certain he was d'f'd.
He never cared about his children. The nurse and he made a life. They moved to CA for lower expenses for fuel. He gave up Julliard for the Witnesses. They took classes at the community college.

I am presently reading Doris Kearns Goodwin book about Teddy Roosevelt and President/Chief Justice Taft. It is well written but knowing a few basics about Taft and Roosevelt would certainly help.

Barb Anderson relates amazing info about Knorr, also Senior Bethel Writers
by Dogpatch in"is it possible that many of the organizational sexual policies began when (in the late 70s early 80s?
) some of the people at bethel and even some of the gb were found out to be visiting gay bars?
i did hear about some bethelites visiting gay bars or engaging in homosexual acts in the late 70s and early 80s and were asked to leave bethel.

Nathan Knorr went dancing at the Rainbow Room? What a hypocrite. I received such censure from my female cousin for dancing like a Watusi. Evil me again.I had to pay a professional choreographer money for private dance lessons b/c I was so shamed. Private dances were hell for me. I so much wanted to dance but my feet were stuck to the floor. Jesus does not like dancing. My mom pointed out to me that Miriam danced and lived.
